INTRODUCTION TO EQUILETIX

BASIC PRINCIPALS TO UNDERSTAND BEFORE YOU BEGIN

NEUTRAL SPINE

Neutral spine is the natural position of your back and core. This position helps to optimize the shock absorption of the spine and helps our muscles to work effectively. We should aim to be in neutral spine when riding, standing and during many exercises.

To attain neutral spine, tuck your hips, so that if your pelvis was a bowl, no water would be spilling out the back or the front, draw your abdominal muscles in, keeping your ribcage down and set your shoulders back and down. Your eyes should be ahead with your head balancing evenly on the top of your neck, not poking forwards.
